November 29, 1942 ~ June 10, 2017 (age 74) 74 Years Old

Leola "Lee" M. Grondin, 74, of Watertown, was called to heaven, June 10, 2017 at Hartford Hospital with her family by her side.  Leola was born November 29, 1942 in Van Buren, Maine and was one of twenty children born to the late Alphy and Aurore (Corbin) Godin.  She moved to Bristol in 1963, and to Watertown in 2009.  Her work experience included time at Connecticut Spring & Stamping and Underwood Typewriters. Lee loved her daughters, grandchildren, great grandchildren very much and had a special place in her heart for Martial Grondin as family was everything to her.  She sowed many seeds in her gardens and grew abundant harvests in the summer and fall which led to many jars of canned "heaven."  She was talented in creating her own patterns in sewing clothes, quilts and crocheting for her daughters and grandchildren through the years, and these items will be cherished forever.  In the last few years her talent turned to painting as she enjoyed creating many works of art for her family.  June of 1996, Lee made history in Bristol as she became the first woman to be inducted into the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks, Lodge 1010.  Playing bingo, listening to Bristol's Old Tyme Fiddlers and the Larry Ayce Band were among of her favorite pastimes.  Lee also had quite the collection of unique hats that she wore so proudly loving all the many comments she received wearing them.  She had a beautiful smile that was absolutely radiant and she loved to make people laugh.  She was a great friend to many and will be very much missed by all, especially her family.  Her survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law:  Cindy and Glenn Carlascio of Watertown and France and Steven Bedard of Bristol; five grandchildren; Danielle Pekar, Denise Carlascio, Christine Carlascio, Erica Bedard and Brian Bedard; six great grandchildren; Kaylee, Alyssa, Aiden, Nathan and Taylor. She is also survived by many sisters and brothers - Patricia Beals of CT, Patrick and Ghislaine Godin of CT, Gerald Godin of CT, Roger and Clemence Godin of FLA, Joanne & Lewis Brissette of CT, Alphy and Rita Godin of CO, Nelson and Kathy Godin of CT, Ann Marie Pooler of ME, Rita and Michael Clevette of FLA, John and Josephine Godin of NY, David Godin of CT, Raymond Godin of CT, Angela and Ronald Gallagher of ME, Judy Godin of CT; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Alphy and Aurore (Corbin) Godin, brothers: Paul and Joseph Godin, sisters: Viola Godin, Jean (Godin) Moreau, Theresa (Godin) Legere.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Wednesday, July 5, 2017, at St. Matthew, 120 Church Ave, in Bristol.   Please visit Leola’s memorial website at www.FUNKFUNERALHOME.com
