Tina L. Gillette (Drouin) 57, of Bristol CT passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at home on June 10, 2021. Tina was born on November 13, 1963 in Hartford, CT and was raised in Southington, CT. Her mother is Carolyn Gabriel (Rix), and her father the late Roger Drouin and step-father the late Robert Gabriel.
Tina has a large family which included her siblings: Tamera Stamand, Terry Pritchard, Betty Wilson, Angel Foss, Pamela Cox, Bill Brunelle, Carol Walker, Roy Gabriel, Debbie Palmer, Scott Gabriel, Keith Gabriel, and the late Lorrie Ramirez along with all of their respective spouses. Tina is survived by her lifelong partner Carlos Martinez whom she loved traveling through life with. The journey wasn’t always easy but Carlos was always by her side no matter what and took such good care of her. She also leaves behind her 3 children that she loved dearly: Celena Gillette, Jennifer Martin and Michael Gillette. Also several nieces and nephews along with 8 grandchildren.
Tina attended Southington High School and then went on to the most rewarding and challenging job of being a homemaker and mother. She loved to crochet, go shopping, enjoyed fishing and simply adored her dogs Max and Junior. You could often find her helping others and was always on the giving end anytime someone was in need. She volunteered for years at The Gifts of Love in Avon and several different AIDS organizations including Mother’s Voices which allowed her daughter Jennifer and her to travel to Washington DC and seek more funding and awareness for AIDS research from President Clinton and Congress. What her family will miss most about her is her contagious smile that always lit up a room, her zest for life and her unwavering strength to defy the odds. They will miss her card and dice games, good home cooked meals and a friendly ear whenever it was needed. And will never forget that she was not scared to speak her mind. The Celebration of Life will take place on Thursday June 17, 2021 from 4-6 PM at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Avenue, Bristol who has the honor of serving Tina’s family.
