Thomas Caputo, 82, of Bristol, CT, passed away on May 23, 2022. He is the son of the late Michael and Marietta (Ferraro) Caputo. Thomas is survived by his loving partner of 35 years, Pierre Lemieux. He resided in Bristol his entire life and was a member of St. Joseph Church. Thomas graduated from St. Anthony High School and Central Connecticut State University. He was an educator in the Bristol school system for 28 years and was loved and admired by his students, who realized and appreciated his significant impact years later. Thomas began his teaching career at South Side School in 1972. In 1993, he went on to teach at Hubbell School until his retirement in 2000. In 2001, Thomas and his partner opened “Pierre’s Courtside Cafe” a restaurant in New Britain, CT which they owned and operated for seven years. He loved to travel and especially enjoyed visiting Aruba, Florida, Palm Springs, CA, and Saratoga, NY. He is predeceased by sixteen days by his sister, Phyllis (Caputo) Therrien, and by his sister, Tonna (Caputo) Arsenault, and brothers Frank Caputo and Louis “Gigi” Caputo who was lost in Korea. He is also survived by several loving and caring cousins, nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. The family would like to especially recognize and thank Fidelis Nanbigne, Tom’s caregiver. The family is also grateful to the staff of Hartford Healthcare at Home and Bristol Hospital.
The visiting hours will be Tuesday morning, May 31, 2022 from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol, who has the honor of serving the family. A Mass of Christian burial will celebrated at 11 AM in St. Joseph Church, 33 Queen St., Bristol. Burial will follow in the Caputo family plot at St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol.
