Theresa Fortunato

Theresa (Aurisano) Fortunato, 86, of Bristol, widow of Vito N. Fortunato, died on Friday (April 9, 2021) at Bristol Hospital.  Theresa was born in Brooklyn, NY on February 26, 1935 and was a daughter of the late Anthony Aurisano and Elena “Helen” (Mascia) Damiano and step-daughter of the late Anthony Damiano.  She moved to Plainville at an early age where she graduated from Plainville High School. She later moved to Bristol in 1955 after she met and married the love of her life, Vito. She was the heart of the family. Always there to nurture, guide, and love all those around her. Theresa is survived by her three devoted daughters: Elena Fortunato, Susan Dowling and husband, T.J., and Angela Fortunato all of Bristol; twin brothers: Anthony Damiano of Bristol and Stephen Damiano and wife, Josephine of Southington; a sister: Lea Dolinsky and husband, Lester of Old Saybrook; her two beloved grandchildren Thomas J. Dowling, III, and Lily Theresa Dowling; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday (April 14, 2021) at 10 AM at St. Anthony Church, 111 School St., Bristol.  Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol.  A walk-through visitation will be held on Wednesday prior to the Mass between 8:30 and 9:30 AM at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol.   Please visit Theresa’s memorial website at www.FunkFuneralHome.com.
