Theresa B. Soucy (Michaud) died peacefully at The Pines of Bristol on November 12, 2022.
She was born on October 26, 1926 in Frenchville, Maine to the late John and Laura Michaud. After relocating to Connecticut, Theresa wed Lucien Soucy of Bristol in June 1948. The couple resided in Bristol, raising their children, building a home, and enjoying an extensive circle of friends and family, as well as an active church life. Theresa was pre-deceased by her beloved husband of 52 years in May 2000. She will be remembered for her deep and abiding Christian faith, her love of family, and her delight in singing, winning at bingo, and playing cards. As early members of Bethel Christian Church in Bristol, Theresa and Lucien worshipped and served faithfully together as volunteers for many years. They also participated in Bible study and volunteered at My Father’s House, which became the Christian Fellowship Center.
Theresa leaves three daughters and a son-in-law: Barbara and Thomas Rutkowski of Bristol, Carol Soucy of Santa Fe, New Mexico and Claudette Carveth of Burlington; brother-in-law Adrian Leclerc of New Britain; sisters-in-law Angela Daigneault of Bristol and Yvette Soucy of Burlington; and four grandchildren: Mark Rutkowski and fiancée Shauna Mulligan of Huntington, MA; Sarah Rutkowski of Willington; Lara Jaramillo and husband Divanny of Plainville; and Alana Carveth of Farmington; great-grandsons Sebastian and Gio Jaramillo; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to husband Lucien, Theresa was predeceased by brothers Mark, Gerard, Philemon, Leo James and Raoul, and sisters Laurette, Priscille, Germaine and Rita.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday (November 17, 2022) at 11 AM at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol followed by a graveside service at Peacedale Cemetery in Bristol. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bethel New England Church, 750 Stevens Street, Bristol.
