Sylvia (Wrisley) Simpson, wife of the late Roger Simpson passed away peacefully at home in Bristol on Monday, November 8th, 2021, at the age of 75.
She was born in Bristol, Ct on July 18, 1946, to the late Beatrice (Douglas) Huhn and Erwin Wrisley. She was a lifelong resident of Bristol with a 14 year stay in Nalcrest, FL after her husband’s retirement then returning to Bristol in 2011. Attended school at St Anne’s, Bingham, and Bristol Central High School. Started working in the tobacco fields while in high school and in later years worked at New Departure Hyatt, Wallace Barnes, EBM, and ended her working career as a Prep Cook in Nalcrest, FL. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother who loved family gatherings, cooking and enjoying food, spending time with special friends, and cheering on her favorite teams the Boston Red Sox, Patriots and had the love of NASCAR. She enjoyed spending time with her late husband on their boats, going deep-sea fishing and staying at their two time shares in RI and FL.
She is survived by her two daughters, Kim Rappleyea and husband David, Janet Saucier, stepchildren Lee (Simpson) Bevan and R.A. Simpson. Twin brother Paul Wrisley and wife Joanne and sisters, Betsy McMahon, Theresa Cohen, and Linda Griffith and husband Bill. Four grandchildren who she loved dearly, Melissa Timbrell, Kayla Betts and husband Dave, Alicia Rappleyea, and Kevin Rappleyea. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and Godchildren. She was predeceased by her stepfather Donald Huhn, siblings Mila Saucier and Edward Wrisley.
Family and friends are invited to join the family for a Celebration of Sylvia’s Life on Monday morning November 15th from 10 to 11:30 AM at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol which has the honor of serving Sylvia’s Family. A catholic service will be conducted in the funeral home at 11:30 AM. Interment will follow in West Cemetery, 49 Pound St, Bristol.
