Shirley E. Casavant

Shirley Casavant, 95, passed away peacefully with her daughter by her side on Friday, July 20, 2018.  Shirley was born on June 3, 1923 to Harley and Ada Monta in Colchester, VT.  She married Leslie Casavant on December 28, 1944.  They had two children, Kathleen and Leslie (Lynne).  Shirley was a devoted wife and mother and lived  her life to take care of her family, whose needs she always placed before her own.  Shirley offered her love and compassion to all who knew her. She loved to sing and she and Les always sang in church choirs.   She was currently a member of Holy Anglican Church, in Plainville, CT.  
 She leaves behind her daughter, Lynne Hawkins and husband, Dave; her granddaughter, Katherine Genovese, husband James, and four sons, Miguel, Antonio, James and Jayce; her grandson, Bryan Winters; her great-granddaugher, Elizabeth Marerro, husband Harvey, and their children, Anna and Eleana;  great grandsons James Moyers, Alan Chapman and Luke Winters; her brother-in-law, Paul Dunham; and many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her loving husband of 52 years,  Les; her daughter, Kathleen Winters; her grandson, Jeffrey Winters; her granddaughter, Cheryl Moyers; her parents, Harley and Ada;  and her siblings, Robert, Thelma, Harlene and Margaret and many dear friends. 
 The family would like to thank Dr. Rahman for 40 plus years of care, the loving and wonderful staff of Shady Oaks Assisted Living in Bristol where she made her home for the last three years and Seasons Hospice.  
Funeral Services will be held at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave, Bristol, on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at 12 PM. Relatives and friends may call at Funk Funeral Home on Tuesday between 11:00 AM and 12:00 PM. Burial will follow at Peacedale Cemetery where she will be buried with her husband, daughter and grandchildren.
