Salvatore J. Amenta, 86, of Bristol, beloved husband of Susan (Larson) Amenta, died on Thursday (June 10, 2021) in Farmington.
Sal was born on January 5, 1935 in New Britain and was a son of the late Joseph and Ann (Carrubba) Amenta. Raised in Plainville, he was an avid softball player and inductee into the Softball Hall of Fame. He served in the United States Army which included duty in Germany and where he also played softball. He also enjoyed duckpin bowling and had bowled a couple of perfect games. He was a long-time employee of General Electric in Plainville before retiring.
In addition to his wife of 58 years, Sal is survived by three children: Lisa Dojan Velarde and husband, Robert of Summerville, SC, Tom Amenta and wife, Pam of Burlington, and Melissa Dziob of Bristol; a brother: Richard Amenta of Georgia; six grandchildren: Brianna and Taylor Dojan, Kayla and Anthony Amenta, and Nathan and Abigail Dziob; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister: Ann Becal and son-in-law: Jeffrey Dziob.
