Robert F. Mihalko, Sr., 87, of Bristol, passed away on Tuesday (December 4, 2018) at home. Robert was born in Bristol on March 27, 1931 and was a son of the late Steven and Christine (Kopchik) Mihalko. A lifelong Bristol resident, he attended Sarah E. Reynolds School and graduated from E.C. Goodwin Technical High School. After serving in the United Sates Army for two years during the Korean Era, he began his career as a tool and die maker at Federal Machine and Tool Company in Forestville where he worked for 40 years before retiring. Robert was predeceased by his loving wife, Frances (Lacovara) Mihalko and his greatest joy, his grandchild, Andrew Robert Wyzga. They are now reunited- (a glorious celebration in heaven!). He is survived by his children: Marianne Mihalko of Bristol and Robert F. Mihalko, Jr. and wife, Marion Mihalko of Warwick, RI. He was also predeceased by his three siblings: John Mihalko, Catherine Chomko, and Pauline Yard. To honor our father’s wishes, services will be private. Military honors burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol. Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol, is in care of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, 126 Monroe Turnpike, Trumbull, CT 06611.
