Richard E. Couture

Richard E. Couture, 88, of Village Gate, Farmington, formerly of Bristol, widower of June (Palladino) Couture, died on Wednesday (December 4, 2019). Richard was born in Bristol on February 12, 1931 and was a son of the late Emery and Louise (Rulli) Couture. A lifelong Bristol resident, he served in the United States Air Force. Richard completed an engineering degree from the Indiana Institute of Technology and was subsequently hired by Pratt and Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford. As a manufacturing engineer, he was employed by Pratt for 34 years before retiring in 1990. Richard and his wife June, especially enjoyed their time abroad in the mid-1970’s living in Belgium and the extensive European travel they experienced. At the time, Richard was a member of the initial Pratt & Whitney co-production team supporting the P&WA jet engine powering the F-16 fighter aircraft selected by four NATO ally countries. Richard’s sons will be forever grateful for the love and support both of their parents provided them throughout their lives. Richard is survived by two sons: Thomas Couture and wife, Catherine of Destin, FL, and Douglas Couture of Bristol; five grandchildren: Caitlin, Emily, Evan, Raymond, and Anna; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his two sisters: Gloria Stanulis and Marilyn D’Aprile, and daughter-in-law: Maureen Couture. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday (December 10, 2019) at 11 AM at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol. Burial, with military honors, will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol. Family and friends are invited to call at Funk Funeral Home on Monday (December 9, 2019) between 5 PM and 8 PM.
