Reginald A. Ruel

Reginald A. Ruel, 84, of Bristol, CT beloved husband of Marilyn (Perry) Ruel, passed away at home on August 3, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Enosburg, VT on August 8, 1937, son of the late Lionel and Cecile (Couture) Ruel. He spent his early years in Burlington, VT. Reginald and Marilyn were married September 7, 1963 in Fairfield, VT. Reggie worked at New Departure Hyatt in Bristol for 30 years before retiring. He then worked part time for Beacon Pharmacy in Bristol for 13 years. Reggie was a member of St. Matthew Church in Forestville and a lifelong member of the American Legion Post 2 in Bristol. The happiest times in his life were the weekly lunches he had with best friends of 50 plus years. The Eagles Nest Restaurant in Terryville was his all-time favorite breakfast stop for many years. Reggie will be greatly missed by his best friends Keith Flanaghan, Jimmy and Tom Colapietro. In addition to his wife, Marilyn of 58 years, he is survived his son Kevin Ruel and his wife Wendy of Shawnee, KS, his daughter Kristie Levesque and partner Mark Merriam of Bristol; grandsons: Jerramy Dear-Ruel of Montana, Travis Ruel of Kansas, Zachary Taylor of Tennessee, and Ethan Ruel of Kansas; granddaughters: Amber Matthews of Missouri, Nicole Ruel of South Dakota and Emma Levesque of Bristol; great grandchildren: Danielle, Alex, Bailey, Cheyanne, David Jr., Lucy, Noah, Zoey, Nimaué, Levi, Jet, Mason and Jack; his sister Jane Holden and her husband Peter of Bristol; Godchildren: Laura Ruel Esau, Todd Perry, Chad Holden, many nieces and nephews. Reggie was predeceased by his brother, Albert Ruel; sisters: Denise M. Ruel, Yvonne Ruel, Laurea Esau and Denese D. Ruel; and his dear friends Steve Whitton and Sid Standish. The family would like to extend their thanks to the Bristol Hospital and the nurses and aides from Apple Rehab Farmington Valley in Plainville for the wonderful care given to Reggie.
The visiting hours will be Monday morning, August 8, 2022, from 9:30 to 11 AM at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Avenue, Bristol. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:30 AM in St. Matthew Church, 120 Church Ave, Bristol. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol.
