Rafael Ayala, 95 of Bristol, husband of Herminia (Melendez) Ayala, passed away on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at Countryside Manor, Bristol.
Rafael was born in Puerto Rico on June 3, 1927 and was the son of the late Felix and Felicita (Vazquez) Ayala. Rafael worked as a dice setter for much of his life and was a member of St. Gregory Church. Rafael enjoyed spending his time painting, collecting coins and reading.
In addition to his wife Rafael is survived by a daughter; Lillian. He is also survived by three grandchildren William Jose Ayala, Brenden Rafael Jayne, Clayton Ayala Jayne; great-grandson: Parker Jayne; and many nieces and nephews. Rafael was predeceased by his son Wilfred Ayala; son-in-law Arthur Jayne; brothers: Angel, Cristobal, Baltazar, Roberto, Teodoro, Ismael, Manuel, Juan, Jose, Angel; sister Ana Maria Jiminez.
Family and friends are invited to gather this Saturday, September 10, 2022 from 9 to 10 AM at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Avenue, Bristol. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 10:30 AM in St. Gregory the Great Church, 235 Maltby St., Bristol. Entombment will follow at Holy Family Mausoleum in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol.
