Rachel E. (Kimball) Bekstrom, 77, of Bristol widow of Ernest E. Bekstrom, died on Sunday (December 20, 2020) at Bristol Hospital.
Rachel was born in Rochester, New Hampshire on November 3, 1943 and was the daughter of the late Clifford and Elizabeth (Chamberlin) Kimball.
She was raised and lived in East Lebanon, ME before coming to Bristol. A schoolteacher in Bristol, she started her teaching career in 1965 at Westwoods school before moving to Memorial Boulevard middle school where she taught English. In retirement she continued to tutor students. She was always willing to help people and always looked on the bright side of things and could usually be found with the Hallmark Channel on her television. She was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Bristol where she was active with the various church groups.
Rachel is survived by two sons: Andrew Bekstrom of Redding and Peter Bekstrom of Bristol; a sister: Marsha Morin and husband, Peter, of Somerset, NJ; a grandson, Caleb; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Fred Kimball.
A private funeral service will be celebrated at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol. Burial will be in Peacedale Cemetery, Bristol. There are no calling hours.
