Patrick N. Kelly

Patrick N. Kelly, 61, of Bristol, formerly of Norwich passed away on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at Bristol Hospital. He was born on November 19, 1961, in Norwich CT, to the late John and Agnes (Fontaine) Kelly. Patrick loved people. He met everyone with a smile, and they were instantly his best friends. He never had a bad word to say about anyone. Patrick enjoyed many things: the song “Jeremiah Was A Bullfrog”; dancing and singing along with “Shout”; his job driving kids to school as he remembered his days being bussed to Westbrook for school; family picnics; and many hours at the Norwich Ten Pin bowling. Patrick’s adult life held many challenges. But fortunately, he became part of the New Horizons Living Center (NHLC) family in Bristol 5+ years ago and they welcomed him with open arms into their family. Patrick became a fully involved family member and had a positive impact on those around him. He offered rides to group meetings and was always available to help a fellow resident. He would always stay to clean up and was often the last to leave. Pat was thrilled to help when the food pantry was opened. He will be especially missed by Terren, Bill, Melissa and Shauna. The Kelly family is grateful to those mentioned and all the staff at NHLC who welcomed Patrick into his new family. Pat had many commitments too and took his role with AA very seriously. He chaired meetings, made coffee and volunteered much of his time to the Bristol Recovery Club. He always helped with their annual picnics and this year was on the planning committee. He will be missed by the “rooms”. The Kelly family appreciates Bill’s sponsorship of Patrick. Patrick is survived by his child Kade Kelly and his brothers and sisters: Kevin (Deb) Kelly; Sheila (John) Spilka; Maureen (Dan) Chaput; Christine (Carl) Morello; Colleen (Marc) Dupont; Eileen (Joe) Telgarsky; Sean (Jenn) Kelly; his aunt Constance Fontaine and numerous cousins. The Kelly family recognizes that due to the devoted guidance and assistance that New Horizons and AA provided, Patrick experienced acceptance, self-respect and a life worth living.

There will be a Service and a Celebration of Life at New Horizons, 43 Prospect Street, Bristol on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 between 11 AM and 1:30 PM. A graveside service will take place in St. Joseph Cemetery, 815 Boswell Avenue, Norwich, CT on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at 10 AM. All are welcome to attend. Please omit flowers.
