Ora Massaro, 87, of Bristol, passed away on Wednesday April 21, 2021 at The Pines at Bristol. Ora was born in Bristol on June 27, 1933 and was a daughter of the late Emil and Carmelia (Tricario) Massaro. Ora is survived by her nieces Claudia (Maynard) Skarb and her husband Stanley of Berlin and Christina Ciarmella of Terryville. A nephew Ralph Ciarmella of Terryville. Ora was a member of the first grammar school class of St. Anthony School. She was a graduate of Bristol High School and Annhurst College. Ora received her master’s degree in education from Trinity College. She studied at Colgate University and in Mexico and Puerto Rico. A Spanish teacher for over thirty years at Bristol Eastern High School, she traveled many times with students to Spain. She was a member of the teacher’s honor society Delta Kappa Gamma. Ora’s hobbies included world travel, cooking, and watching basketball games, the New York Yankees and horse racing. She loved music which was evident in the fact that she belonged to St Anthony, St Ann choirs as well as the Bristol Chorale. Ora guided St Anthony Rosary Society and her family in spiritual matters. She was a Lector and a Eucharistic Minster at St Anthony church. Ora was awarded the St Joseph Medal of honor in 2014. She was predeceased by her sisters Rose, Marie, and Amelia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday April 27th, at 10:30 AM in St. Anthony Church, 111 School St., Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol. A walk-through visitation will be held on Monday April 26th from 4 to 6 PM at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol, who has the honor of serving Ora’s family.
