Tribute

Nicholas Nolan Turley, 101, of Bristol, beloved husband of the late Eleanor (Dowd) Turley, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday (October 29, 2019) with his four children at his side. Nick was born in Hartford on October 3, 1918 and was the son of the late John and Mary Ellen (Williams) Turley and resided in Bristol for 60 years. Nick was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps. After the war, he graduated from Trinity College, Hartford, CT. He retired after 35 years as the Director of Titles for the State of Connecticut Department of Transportation. He was a communicant of St. Gregory the Great Church in Bristol. Nick was devoted to his family and his faith. He loved time spent with his family at his beloved “BKozy” at Old Colony Beach in Old Lyme where memories over the generations were made. Nick is survived by two sons: William Turley of Bristol, and Paul (Joan) Turley of New Hampshire; two daughters: Ellen (John) Pagliaro of South Carolina, and Jane (Joe) Marozzi of Bristol; eight grandchildren: Cleigh (Rebecca) Turley, Johanna (Tom) Macinnes, Carolyn (Ryan) Olshan, James (Emma) Turley, John (Brianne) Pagliaro, Nicholas (Juli) Marozzi, William Pagliaro and Joseph Marozzi; four great grandchildren: Madison and Jacob Turley, Mika Olshan and Morgan Macinnes; his devoted Goddaughter: Jane Bachman; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his beloved wife of 68 years and his parents, Nicholas is predeceased by his two brothers: John and James; and his two sisters: Mary and Catherine. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2019, at St. Gregory the Great Church, 235 Maltby St., Bristol, at 11 AM followed by Military Honors. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in St. Mary's Cemetery, Windsor Locks. Relatives and friends may call at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave, Bristol on Friday between 5 and 7 PM. Memorial donations may be made to ALSAC/St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
