Nicholas A. Schittina, 82, of Bristol, beloved husband of 61 years to Martha (Elledge) Schittina, passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2023 at Bristol Hospital. Nick was born on June 18, 1941 in Bristol and was a son of the late Anthony and Viola (Morgan) Schittina. A lifelong Bristol resident, he graduated from St. Anthony’s High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, which included a station overseas in South Korea for one year. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from Central Connecticut State University and a master’s degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, both while working full-time. Nicholas spent most of his career working for the Traveler’s Insurance Company in Hartford, retiring in 2007 after 35 years of service. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son Anthony M. Schittina and wife, Eileen (Fitzpatrick) of Orange; three grandchildren: Katherine, Joseph and Thomas Schittina; and his sister Gail Coneita. He was predeceased by his three brothers Frank Walden, Steven Schittina, David Schittina and his sister Sandra Speziale.
