Maureen Patricia Hennessey, 58, died peacefully at her home in Bristol, Connecticut, on March 16, 2021. Although she had survived breast cancer many years ago, she had struggled with various health issues and finally succumbed to cancer. Maureen was born July 7, 1962, in St. John, New Brunswick, Canada, and was the daughter of the late Dr. Brian Hennessey and the late Margaret (McGinn) Hennessey.
Maureen spent most of her life in Bristol. She attended St. Joseph Elementary School, St. Paul Catholic High School and Tunxis Community College. She worked for many years as Office Manager for her father’s medical practice. She was a beloved member of Hillside Community Church in Bristol. Maureen had such a big heart, extending friendship and love to so many. She was happiest when engaged in outdoor activities and spending precious time with family and friends. The memories of her humor, wisdom and grace will be cherished.
Maureen is survived by her two sons, Sean and Jay Hennessey, daughter-in-law Laura Hennessey, stepson Anthony Russo, two granddaughters, and long-time friend and companion Alan Russo. She is also survived by three sisters, Elizabeth Hennessey-Brine of Irvine, California, Margaret Calhoun of Mesa, Arizona, and Carolyn Liss of West Suffield, as well as brothers-in-laws John Brine and Billy Calhoun, nephews Jack and Dylan Brine, and Brian and Owen Liss. In addition to her parents, Maureen is predeceased by her brother, Brian Hennessey, Jr.
Maureen's life will be celebrated on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at Hillside Community Church, 435 Broad St., Bristol, CT 06010. Calling Hours will be 4:30 to 6 PM, Funeral Service 6 to 7 PM, followed by a reception in the church.
Burial will be private in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Maureen’s memory to the American Cancer Society.
