Mary D. (Pompei) Wilson, 84, formerly of Bristol, widow of Raymond A. Wilson, passed away on Saturday (January 30, 2021) at LiveWell in Plantsville. Mary was born in Bristol on March 24, 1936 and was one of three children of the late Louis Pompei, Sr. and Frances (Coletto) Pompei. A lifelong Bristol resident, she attended St. Anthony Grammar School and High School. She worked at Barnes Group for 20 years until retiring. Mary was a devout Catholic and parishioner of St. Anthony Church.
Mary embodied her faith in every way, putting family above all and extending her motherly love to so many. She enjoyed an abundance of lifelong friends. Weekly dinners after mass was a favorite ritual. Attending Blues games at Muzzy Field brought back fond memories of her life on the West End. Summertime you would find Mary and her trusted side-kick Janice at a concert on the green or at Rockwell Park. She loved to dance! Being 'social' was her genius! She brought that joy of connecting with people to LiveWell, continuing to give more of herself to others there. She did it 'her way'! She prayed daily and talked to the Lord about her man who she missed immensely. Happily they're now united.
Mary is survived by her four children, their spouses and their families: Raymond and Kim Wilson of Lagrangeville, NY and children Morgan and Taylor and his fiancé Abbie; Rick and Liz Hammell of Southington, and children Ricky, Sean and Matt and his wife Lindsey and their child Lainey; Robert and Kim Wilson of Southington, and children, Adam and Nathan; Paula and Scott Bunce of Wolcott and children, MaryKate and Eric; a sister: Ann Konopka and husband, Bob of Bristol; a brother: Louis “Gig” Pompei, Jr. and wife, Rose, of Southington; several nieces and nephews and her loving extended family.
The family would like to extend sincere gratitude to the many people at LiveWell and her personal companions over the years for their kind and compassionate care of their mom.
