Mary (Yatsenick) Kelly, of Bristol, widow of Robert H. Kelly, died on Friday (June 2, 2023) at home. Mary was born on November 26, 1925 in Terryville and was a daughter of the late Konstantin and Maria (Romaniak) Yatsenick.
She was raised in Terryville where she graduated from Terryville High School class of 1944 during which time she served in the Girl Reserves making bandages for the War Effort.
A Bristol resident since 1948, she worked for the Eagle Lock Co., Terryville, and the American Board of Anesthesiology., Hartford. Family was most important to Mary and she was a parishioner of St. Joseph Church, Bristol.
Mary is survived by two sons: Robert S. Kelly of Bristol, and Edward Kelly and wife, Nana Weinberg of West Yarmouth, MA; a step-granddaughter and three step-great-grandchildren; a special former daughter-in-law, Victoria Burch; Godchildren: Thomas Wyrebek, Maureen Torrance and Patricia Dunn; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers and sisters: Joseph Yatsenick, Stephen “Chippy” Yatsenick, Julia Maichak, Anna Torrence, and Olga Wyrebek.
Growing up in a house of six children during the Depression, she lost her Mom at the age of five. Not having a mother, her desire was to live long enough to see her children grown, so she set out to be the world’s best Mom, an achievement she truly attained. Auntie Mary (Auntie La La) sang while working around the most inviting home ever. Friends and family alike were always welcome and knew they were someplace special because she was there.
