Marilyn B. Briere

Marilyn (Lemieux) Briere, 77, beloved wife of William Briere, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday (December 24, 2017) surrounded by her loving family. She was born on February 23, 1940 in Bristol and was the daughter of the late Phil and Mary Lemieux. Marilyn graduated from St. Ann's grammar school and Maria Assumpta Academy of Petersham, Mass. also from the Hartford School of Hairdressing. She was a devoted member of St. Ann Church and the Ladies of St. Ann Society. She loved to walk the beach in Wells Maine in the summer, working in the yard with her flowers, taking long walks with her husband and their dog Bear who was her buddy, and travelling to Quebec, Canada in the summer. In addition to her loving husband of 57 years, Marilyn is survived by a daughter and son-in-law: Barbara and John Hanifin of Bristol; twin sons: Bruce Briere and wife Chris of Bristol, and Brian Briere and wife Donna, of Montgomery, N.Y; two grandchildren: Tyler and Alexandria Briere; her brother Robert Lemieux and wife Corinne of Summersville, S.C.; several nieces and nephews; and cousins in Quebec, Canada. She was predeceased by a grandson: Justin Briere, and a sister Doris Smith. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the Bristol Hospital Cancer Center and Bristol Hospice nurses for the wonderful and loving care given to Marilyn. A very special thank you to nurse Sophie for all that she has done for Marilyn. A private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ann Church followed by burial in St. Joseph Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
