Marian (Dean) Palmisano, 93, of Bristol, widow of James A. Palmisano, died on Thursday (May 18, 2023) at The Pines at Bristol.
Marian was born in Windsor, VT on October 8, 1929 and was one of four daughters of the late Roy and Vera (Chaffee) Dean.
She was raised and graduated high school in Windsor, VT. During a trip to Florida with a friend, they stopped in Bristol where she would meet her future husband, James. She never made it to Florida but ended up settling in Bristol to marry and raise her family.
She loved to stay active and was an avid bike rider and swimmer. She swam daily into her 80’s and was known for swimming the distance of swimming around the world, a feat she accomplished in local pools from the early 60’s and reaching that goal in 2016. She also enjoyed the theater, travel, spending time with family and going to her church as a member of Prospect United Methodist Church, Bristol. She was an eternal optimist, always upbeat and positive.
Marian is survived by three children: Cory Palmisano and wife, Sue, Eden Abrams, and Belinda Gonsalves and husband, Bill, all of Bristol; eight grandchildren: Cory Palmisano, Jr. (Pam), Alicia Caron (Jake), Nick Palmisano, Chloe Bozzuto (Andrew), Elijah Abrams, Mark Gonsalves (Juliana) Kristy Litchfield (Paul) and Brendan Gonsalves; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, James, son-in-law: David Abrams; and her three sisters: Pauline, Ruth, and Patricia.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday (May 25, 2022) at 11 AM at Prospect United Methodist Church, Summer St., Bristol. Burial will follow in Peacedale Cemetery, Bristol. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Prospect United Methodist Church Book of Remembrance Fund, 99 Summer St., Bristol, CT 06010.
