Marcel Oscar Massicotte, 85, of Bristol, passed away peacefully at St. Francis Hospital on Sunday, October 27, 2019. Marcel was born March 9, 1934 to the late Dr. Oscar and Aurore (Girardin) Massicotte. Marcel is survived by his wife of 60 years, Fleurette (Doyon), son Allen, his wife Lenna, their children Julia, Elizabeth and Roland; daughter Linda Black, her husband David and their children Kelly and Kristina; son Jeffrey, his partner Diane and his children Emily and Jeffrey, and their Mom Gina; daughter Michelle Dinwoodie, her husband Paul and their children Trevor and Morgan. He also leaves two brothers, Normand and Andre and several nieces and nephews. Marcel was a lifelong member of St. Ann Church; attended St. Ann School, Assumption Prep., Assumption College, Ohio State University School of Optometry and Bentley University. He enlisted in the Reserves during the Korean War. Marcel worked as a financial officer for Rothstein Flour, Merchants Reporting Service, Corporation S, Pitney Bowes, MacDermid and Royal Typewriter. He then started a business of tax preparation named Tax Offices of America and Cash Management Services. Marcel was also elected Town Treasurer for five terms. He served for many years as a Director of St. Ann Church and was a founder of the Business Department at the University of Hartford. He was also a member of the Bristol Rotary and the Knights of Columbus. Marcel was also a recipient of the St. Joseph Medal of Appreciation from the Archdiocese of Hartford. He had a passion for large cars, cigars and fishing. He believed that there was no such thing as a bad day of fishing. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ann Church of St. Francis de Sales Parish, 215 West St., Bristol, on Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at 10 AM followed by a burial alongside his parents at St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol. A reception will follow at his son Allen’s home at 80 Broadview Street, Bristol, CT. Marcel was a strong-pro-life advocate and, as such, donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Carolyn’s Place, 137 Grandview Avenue, Waterbury, CT 06708.
