Lynda F. Kanenberg

A Celebration of Lynda's life will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2022, from 11 AM until a prayer service commencing at 12:30 PM at Funk Funeral Home.


Lynda F. Kanenberg, 76, of Burlington, widow of Rudy Kanenberg, died on Saturday (January 8, 2022) at Bristol Hospital. Lynda was born in Bristol on September 9, 1945 and was a daughter of the late James and Virginia (Chamberlain) Fetterolf.

Lynda completed her Bachelor’s degree in English and Master’s degree in Elementary Education. She spent 35 years as an elementary school educator in the Bristol school system, 23 of those as a kindergarten teacher at Clarence A. Bingham School. After retirement, she continued her service to the community through volunteerism at Bristol Hospital and with blood drives. She was very social and loved to entertain, hosting barbeques and picnics for family and friends. Lynda was a proud UCONN Alum and an avid sports fan who never missed watching the UCONN men’s and women’s basketball games or the Boston Red Sox. Lynda loved traveling, the beach, being in the sun, and spending time with her friends and granddaughter.

Lynda is survived by her sons Matthew Kanenberg and wife, Heather of Houston, TX; James Kanenberg and her granddaughter Sophia Rose of Bristol, whom she loved to the moon and back; her cousin Jane Schaffrick, who was like a sister to her, and husband, Lenny, and the entire Schaffrick family whom she was very close to; her beloved rescue dog Cappy; as well as countless friends and extended family.

There are no calling hours, a remembrance service will be held in the spring. Funk Funeral Home, Bristol, has the honor of serving Lynda’s family.
