Loretta S. Guilmette

Loretta (Sherman) Guilmette, 90, widow of Eugene Guilmette, died on March 29, 2021. Born and raised in Rochester, VT, Loretta moved to Connecticut in 1962. After raising six children, Loretta went back to school to earn her nursing degree. She worked for Dr. Zebrowksi’s office in Plainville for many years and finished her career at the Walnut Hill Nursing Home.
Loretta would be the first to tell you she was truly blessed. Her favorite days were spent with family, especially at the shore in RI or with extended family in VT. She was a big sports fan and was passionate about the UCONN Women’s basketball team.
Loretta is survived by her sister, Lorraine Blair, and her children Larry (Janet) Guilmette, Allen (Lesley) Guilmette, Peggy (Clarence) Martin, and James (Maureen) Guilmette. She also leaves 10 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sister Lorena Eaton, brothers Gerald “Turk” Sherman and Robert Sherman, her daughter Pamela and son Gregory.
Friends and family are invited to a walk-through visiting hour on Wednesday, April 7th at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol, from 9:30-10:30 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Gregory the Great Church, 235 Maltby Street, Bristol, at 11:30 AM. Interment to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol.
