March 2, 1936 ~ December 2, 2018 (age 82) 82 Years Old

Tribute

Levite R. Cormier, Sr., 82, of Bristol, widower of Rejeanne (Roy) Cormier, died on Sunday (December 2, 2018) at home.  Levite was born in Van Buren, ME on March 2, 1936 and was a son of the late Denis and Corinne (Rossignol) Cormier.  Raised in Maine, he came to Conn. in 1955 to work and begin a family.    Levite had many entrepreneurial dreams throughout his life. Through the years, he had a small airline with a license to run business flights to Montreal, owned a trucking company and for a time, had a printing and advertising company. In addition, he was a heavy equipment operator and worked on many Hartford area highway projects. He was a talented carpenter and could fix just about anything. Like so many of his generation, he knew how to reuse and recycle before it was in vogue.     Devoted to the Catholic faith, Levite served as a CCD teacher, a Eucharistic Minister at St. Gregory Church, and was active with LaRencontre. He also attended the men’s retreat for many years. He was currently a parishioner of St. Matthew Church, Forestville.      Levite loved his family. He was his wife’s caregiver. He lived the vows he made 63 years ago, always there in sickness and in health. He especially enjoyed his time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a playful soul, always ready to make them laugh with a corny joke or pull out the toy blocks and join in the fun.     Levite is survived by three children:  Claire Fournier and husband, Leigh, of Bristol, Levite “Lee” Cormier, Jr., and wife, Cynthia, of Bristol, and Diane Balzano of North Haven; seven grandchildren: John (Elizabeth) Fournier, Gregory Fournier, Christine (Brian) Martin, Michael (Sabrina) Cormier, Kaitlin Cormier, Anthony and Theresa Balzano; seven great-grandchildren:, Dominic, Joshua, Brayden, and Jacob Martin, Mia and Michael Cormier, and Benjamin Fournier. He was predeceased by his sister: Joan Dubay. The family would like to thank his caregiver, Crystal McMorris, and hospice nurse Adrienne, who provided care and comfort in his final months.    A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday (December 8, 2018) at 10 AM at St. Matthew Church, 120 Church Ave., Forestville.  Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol.  Relatives and friends may call at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol, on Saturday between 8:30 and 9:30 AM.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bristol Hospital Hospice program Main St. Bristol Ct. or  St. Matthew School, 33 Welch Dr., Bristol, CT 06010.  Please visit Levite’s memorial website at www.FunkFuneralHome.com.
