Kristina Marie Johnson (Tina) passed away on April 18, 2021 at the young age of 27. She leaves behind her parents, Dave and Debra Johnson of Burlington, CT; brothers, David and Michael also of Burlington; Nauni, Noreen C. Johnson of Bristol, Guipa and Meme, Dave and Maureen Johnson of Winston-Salem, NC, Grandparents Bob and Annette Szoka of Summerfield, FL; Auntie Patty and Uncle Dave; Auntie Jodie; Auntie Jessi; Uncle Doug and Auntie Amy; God parents Lisa and Chris; several loving cousins and many very special friends.
She entered the world smiling. Her beautiful smile and laugh were constant reminders of her genuine zest for life. Starting from the time Tina could walk and talk, she displayed a love of music and dance, taking every chance to perform in front of family and friends. Throughout her childhood she performed in dance recitals and community talent shows. She was never shy about getting onstage and giving it her all for everyone to enjoy.
Tina attended Bristol Central High School where she graduated in 2012. It was there that her passion for music and theater blossomed and many great friendships were formed. She performed in several school and community musicals and concerts. Her favorite production was RENT, where she was able to showcase her singing ability and majestic voice. She truly adored the time she spent with her theater family.
After high school, Tina began her college studies at WCSU before transferring to CCSU. In her sophomore year, she was diagnosed with brain cancer. Tina, being a very resolute and strong-minded woman, was determined to beat cancer and complete her degree and did whatever was needed to accomplish her goal. Tina proudly strode across the stage to receive her Bachelor’s degree of Psychology in December 2018. She continued battling cancer and beat the odds stacked against her for over six years.
Tina was very a principled person. She lived on her own terms without apology. Holidays were a very special time for her. She loved decorating, getting dressed up (she was never too old to trick-or-treat) and spending time with her family. She always looked forward to our yearly family vacations. Her ultimate vacation was a family trip to Ireland where she was able to connect with her heritage. She enjoyed mini golf tremendously and played every chance she could. Tina loved dogs and had very special relationships with her family pets Scooby Doo, Duke and Luna. She is loved so much by all of her family and will be missed immensely. Our memories of her will forever be in our hearts.
