Joseph Ricci, 92, of Bristol, beloved husband of the late Olivette (Taillon) Ricci, passed away peacefully on Friday (December 20, 2019) at Bristol Hospital. Joseph was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey on May 13, 1927 and was a son of the late Domenic and Helen (Giarnieri) Ricci.
Joseph honorably served in the U.S. Army in Germany during the Korean conflict. He moved to Bristol in 1940 and was a parishioner of St. Ann Church, Bristol. Joseph retired from Pratt & Whitney in 1987 after 35 years of service. He was a diehard Yankees fan and enjoyed woodworking, bird watching and gardening. Joseph always put his family first and will be truly missed by all who knew him.
Joseph is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Philip and Theresa Ricci of Bristol, Roderick and Lisa Ricci of Rocky Hill, and Bryan Ricci and his fiancée Barbara O’Connor of Rocky Hill; three daughters and sons-in-law, Diana and Richard Glownia of Bristol, Lisa and John Washko of Canton, and Teresa and Michael Mitchell of Ellington; one sister, Augusta Oliveira of Port Charlotte, Florida; he was proud of his seven grandchildren, Kevin and Robin Ricci, Michael Ricci, Taryn Ricci, Kimberly and Kevin Saucier, Justin Glownia, Danielle and Joseph Persichetti and Joseph Ricci; three great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his beloved wife of 61 years and his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Scott Ricci; and his brother and sister, John Ricci and Louise Testa.
Funeral services will be held on Friday (December 27, 2019) at 9 AM from Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol, to St. Ann Church, Bristol for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM. Entombment with military honors will follow in the Holy Family Mausoleum at St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday (December 26, 2019) between 4 and 7 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Paul Catholic High School, 1001 Stafford Ave, Bristol, CT 06010 or St. Ann Church, 180 Laurel St., Bristol, CT 06010.
