Joseph F. Colette, 82, beloved husband of Florence (Woiten) Colette of Harwinton, died on Wednesday (October 2, 2019) at Countryside Manor of Bristol. Joseph moved from New Britain to Bristol at age 18, where he lived until 1970, when he moved to a farm in Harwinton to raise his family. He graduated from Fairfield University in the class of 1961. He was self-employed for most of his life, working primarily in property management. Joseph was a proud equestrian that loved farming and sports, especially football. A devout Catholic, he attended Mass at multiple churches in the area. Above all Joseph dedicated his life to his family and people less fortunate than himself.
In addition to his wife, Florence, Joseph is survived by two daughters: Nicole Greger of Bristol and Susan Colette of CA; a son: Craig Colette and his wife Karla of Unionville; a sister: Maureen Acampora and her husband Salvatore of Bristol; seven grandchildren: Jared, Brandon, and Cody Greger and Kimberly, Joseph, Bella and Michael Colette; and many nieces and nephews. Joseph is predeceased by a daughter: Kimberly Jo Colette; and a son-in-law: Billy Greger Jr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday (October 5, 2019) at 11 AM at St. Matthew Church, 120 Church Ave., Forestville. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday (October 4, 2019) from 4-6 PM at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol.
