John J. Warkoski, 90, of Bristol, widower of Mary A. (Tedesco) Warkoski passed away at home on Thursday (April 21, 2022) while holding hands with his only child Lynda.  John was born in Bristol on February 16, 1932 and was a son of the late Benny and Hedwig (Karwac) Warkoski.
A lifelong Bristol resident, he grew up on Claremont Street not far from his present home.  He attended St. Stanislaus Grammar School and E. C. Goodwin Technical School before enlisting to serve in the United States Marine Corps.  A Korean War veteran.  John was awarded The Korean Service Medal W/4*, United Nations Service Medal and The Purple Heart Medal on 9/11/51.  He fought in 4 major battles.  John was very patriotic his whole life and a very proud Marine.  After his honorable discharge, he went to work for Connecticut Light and Power as a Lineman retiring as Chief Lineman after a long career.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, trips to Las Vegas, hunting trips and of course their yearly trips to North Carolina to spend a few months with their Grandsons. He was a member of the American Legion and Disabled American Veterans.  He was a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Parish attending St. Anthony Church.
John is survived by his loving daughter: Lynda Coughlin; two grandsons: Tyler and Christopher Coughlin; son-in-law: Joey Coughlin; brother in law Frankie Tedesco and his wife Joanie of Terryville, his cousin Delores Black and her husband John of Bristol and several nieces and nephews including: Gail Beardsley and her husband Bart, Ricky Tedesco and his wife Rachel and several great nieces and nephews and longtime friends.  He was predeceased by a brother: Frank Warkoski, and a sister: Theresa Waseleski.
A graveside service with military honors will be held on Thursday (April 28, 2021) at 12 Noon at St. Joseph Cemetery (Section 40-North Side), 522 Terryville Ave., Bristol.  There will be no calling hours.  Please visit John’s memorial web-site at www.FunkFuneralHome.com.
