John O Johnson

John O. Johnson, 56, of Bristol, passed away unexpectedly on July 1, 2017.

John was born and raised in Bristol, a graduate of Bristol Central High School and CCSU. He worked as a manufacturing engineering specialist. Friends and family will remember John as a selfless, witty, compassionate, outgoing spirit. He loved to play golf and spend time with his two sons as much as possible. When making repairs or any assembly of sorts, John was known to very rarely refer to the instruction manual. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

The son of Rita Johnson and the late MSgt. Eugene Johnson, he leaves behind two sons, Kyle, and Andrew; along with their mother Christine; two brothers, Carl and Bruce Johnson; three sisters; Gail Sullivan, Cheryl Casado and Lisa Richards. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews and a close longtime friend from his youth, Robert Chapman.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, July 8, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Funk Funeral Home on 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol, CT 06010. Memorial Mass will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, 33 Queen St., Bristol, and a Christian burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Bristol. Funk Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
