On February 19th in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, John Dubowsky resident of Bristol, CT passed away after a brief illness. John was born on May 12, 1933 in Southington, son of Thomas and Helen Dubowsky. John was a Korean War Veteran who served in the Army from 1953 to 1956. He work at Travelers Insurance where he retired in 1991. John was a long time member of the Italian Social Club. He was an avid walker. John enjoyed spending Winter weeks at Costa Del Sol in Florida where he and Rose have made many great friends. He enjoyed traveling and was proud to say he had visited all 50 states. John’s true passion was golf. He taught all his grandsons to golf at an early age and they all continued to golf together. He was known to golf 3 days a week, 18 holes a day and to walk the course. John was a family man, he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren having dinner, playing games and making memories. John is survived by his wife of 61 years, Rose (Downs), his daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Fred Glazier, his son Brad and grandsons Michael (wife Mandy), Kevin, Brian (wife Allison), brother Bill, cousin Frankie and many nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his brother Thomas. A walk-through visitation will be held, on Thursday March 4th from 10:30 to 11:30am at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol. His funeral home service will immediately follow at 11:30am. Interment to follow in Peacedale Cemetery, Bristol. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or the DAV.
