James (Jim) Guilmette

June 22, 1960 ~ November 17, 2021 (age 61) 61 Years Old

Tribute

James (Jim) Guilmette, 61, of Bristol, Connecticut, husband of Maureen (McPhee) Guilmette, died Wednesday Nov. 17th, at home, surrounded by his family, after a brave and inspirational fight with a prolonged illness. Jim was born in Keene, NH, to Eugene and Loretta (Sherman) Guilmette. He moved to Connecticut as a young child, first to Wolcott then to Bristol.

Jim started his career as a newspaper printer right out of high school. He printed the Bristol Press for many years and later printed the Wall Street Journal. He was always proud of his work and would often show off the color and quality of photos in the paper.

Jim was a remarkable presence in the lives of his family and friends. He especially enjoyed spending time together whether it was doing big things like family vacations at the beach or simple things like reading to the grandkids or a rousing family game night. He was the family champion cribbage player. He enjoyed years as a league bowler and hit several 300 games. He was very proud of his homemade apple pies. And on any given Saturday you could find Jim watching TVG and playing “OTB from home” as he bet on the horse races.

Jim was a lifelong diehard Boston Red Sox fan. He loved to take the T into Boston to watch a game at Fenway Park, always stopping at his favorite sausage vendor on the way in. If he was not at the game, you could be sure the game would be on at home and he would be rubbing the B on his baseball cap for luck.

In addition to his wife Maureen Jim is survived by their three children; Jennifer Masi and her husband Steve, Robin Ricci and her husband Kevin, and James Guilmette and his wife Robyn. He also leaves 7 grandchildren:  Kyle, Elizabeth, Emma, Kaylie, Alyssa, Caleb and Quinn who were his pride and joy and brought him so much happiness. Jim was predeceased by his parents, his sister Pamela, and his brother Greg. Jim also leaves two brothers, Larry and Allen Guilmette, and his sister Peggy Martin. He will be greatly missed by all his many nieces and nephews.
