Tribute

James (Jim) Greco, 55, beloved father, brother and friend passed away peacefully at home on June 6, 2021 surrounded by family. Born on Sept. 1, 1965 in Middletown, CT., Jim graduated from Bristol Eastern High School and earned his Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Technology from Central Connecticut State University. Jim worked at United Technologies for 20 years, after which he was employed by Triumph Group for 15 years as a Senior Electronics Engineer. He was a committed and devoted employee with a strong work ethic who was highly respected by his colleagues. Jim was grateful to have had the opportunity to work beside his manager John Brennan, who he highly respected. Jim lived by the motto “It is what it is.” This did not imply that he gave up, but instead faced every hurdle with determination and grace. The most important part of Jim’s life, and his greatest accomplishment was his daughter, Katelyn. He proudly attended all of her sporting events and activities and thrived on their father-daughter time. Jim’s passion and zest for life encompassed several interests including woodworking, hunting, fishing, boating, golfing, archery and of course, building the largest fire possible in his back yard fire pit. He enjoyed remodeling his house and took great pride in the renovations, specifically his deck. He was a member of the Bristol Fish and Game as well as the Elk’s Club. Jim is predeceased by his parents, Peggy (Walsh) Greco and Sebastian Greco. He is survived by his daughter, Katelyn Greco, brother, Joe Greco, sisters and their spouses, Debbie Oliver and Steve Oliver, Laurie Pratt and Jeff Pratt, Patti May and Scott May. He leaves behind the best ex-wife ever, Deborah Greco. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, Justin Greco, Joshua Greco, Nicole Oliver, Sabrina Pratt, Kayla Oliver, Nick Pratt and Brianna May. Jim had a close-knit group of friends which he referred to as “brothers from another mother.” This family of friends included Steve Longo, Dave Crocetto, Jim Fitzgerald and Mark Fasciano as well as their wives and children. They lovingly nicknamed him “Jimbo.” The visiting hours will be Thursday, June 10th, from 4 to 7 PM at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Avenue, Bristol who has the honor of serving Jim’s family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 11, 2021 at 10:30 AM in St. Gregory the Great Church, 235 Maltby St., Bristol.
