James J. Deutsch

James J. Deutsch, 67, of Terryville, CT passed away on April 28, 2021 at Bristol Hospital surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of Tammie (Horacek) Deutsch, whom he was married to for 29 years. James was born in New Britain on March 1, 1954 to the late Florence (Pawlicki) and Joseph H. Deutsch.

Jim started his career at The Hartford Insurance Group in 1984 working as a business analyst. He transferred to MassMutual in 2013 where he retired in 2019. Jim loved music, baseball and reading. He was an active member in the Terryville community volunteering and serving on several town boards and commissions. Jim had a vivacious personality and always made people around him laugh. His presence in so many people’s lives will be deeply missed.

In addition to his wife Tammie, Jim is survived by his children: Melissa Correa and husband Osvaldo of Avon, Justin Herrick and wife Christiana of West Hartford, Kelsey Deutsch and partner Cody Maid of Canton, Joseph Deutsch of Terryville, along with 5 grandchildren: Domenic, Aiyana, Isabella, Brisa, and Piper. He is further survived by two sisters, Karen Kobylenski of Colorado, and Donna Tobin and husband John of New Jersey. Jim is predeceased by his parents and his son Anthony Toscano.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, May 23rd at 12:30pm at The Lyceum on 181 Main St., Terryville. Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol, has the honor of serving Jim’s family.
