Tribute

Harold "Bud" Norton Fletcher died peacefully at Bristol Hospital on July 22, 2021, in Bristol, Connecticut at the age of 95.

Bud is survived by his beloved wife Marjorie “Marge” Chase Fletcher; his children, son Derek Chase Fletcher and partner Denise Konnick; daughter Lynn Fletcher Keene and spouse Dr. Andrew Keene; son Wayne C Fletcher and spouse Beverly Fletcher; and daughter Laurie Fletcher Bourque and spouse David Bourque. Grampa Bud is also survived by his treasured grandchildren Katen Rubeo, Dr. Dane Fletcher, Gabe Fletcher, Brock Fletcher, Jeni Fletcher, Dr. Paige Fletcher, Kelsey Bourque, Lauren Bourque, Drew Keene, and their families, spouses, and partners, including his dearly loved seven great-grandchildren. Bud is also survived by extended family Karen Bielert Fletcher and several nieces and nephews, all whom he welcomed with kindness.

Bud is preceded in death by his parents Ruth Norton Fletcher and Harold Fletcher; and his three siblings, sister Doris McIntyre, and brothers Robert Fletcher and Eugene Fletcher.

Bud was born on February 1, 1926, in Plainville, Connecticut to Ruth Norton Fletcher and Harold Fletcher. He graduated from Bristol High School in 1943, followed by serving our country in the Air Force until 1945. After his service, Bud attended UCONN at Avery Point.

Bud met the love of his life Marjorie “Marge” Chase on a blind date, and they married in 1950. They built their home together in Bristol as he began working for C.N. Flagg as a Project Manager until he retired in 1985. Never one to not work, Bud went into business with his two sons until 1994.

Over their 70 years together, the couple joyfully and generously welcomed their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends into their homes in Bristol and Charlestown, Rhode Island. Bud and Marge enjoyed traveling with friends, especially sailing excursions, returning home to share stories. Coming home to his wife each day after work and to family after each trip was the commitment Bud lived throughout his life.  Even as he is gone, we can all look back and see the path he left for us to follow.

In keeping with his wishes, the service is a private remembrance of life with his family.
