Gregory Charles Tomcheski, 59, of Wolcott, formerly of Bristol died unexpectedly with his family by his side. Greg was born on January 17, 1963 and is the son of Marguerite McIntyre of Sarasota, FL and the late Peter Tomcheski of Bristol. Greg was a loving husband, son, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and coach. He leaves behind his loving wife of 37 years, Julie (Murrone) Tomcheski of Wolcott, two sons, Matthew and Suschna Scott-Tomcheski of Watertown and Marc Tomcheski of Wolcott, granddaughter, Juliana Marguerite Tomcheski and a grandson, Maxten Greger Tomcheski as well as two unofficially adopted sons, Kevin and Nathan Gonzalez of North Carolina. Greg also leaves behind a sister, Debra and her husband Robert Provost of Sarasota, Brother in law, James and his wife Judy Murrone, Joseph and his wife JoJo Murrone, John and his wife Julie Murrone and Mother-in-law, Patricia Murrone of Bristol. Nephews, Devon and Lauren Provost, Toby Rinaldi, Sr., Tommy Murrone, Toby Rinaldi, Jr., Andrew Murrone. Nieces, Kristen and Matt Diamond and Kelley and Clay Merrill. Greg was an avid NY Giants fan and a coach for Flag Football and tackle Bristol Midget Football over 15 years. He worked as an electrical foreman, dedicated to the trade for 40 years. Greg also known as “Big Guy” always put his family first, enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and going for rides with his sidekick dog, Stella. He was an extremely generous and forgiving man. He was a father figure to many youth players, which still stayed in contact with him over the years. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Mary’s Hospital, Emergency Responders of Wolcott and the outpouring of support from friends during this difficult time.
A Celebration of Greg’s Life will be this Friday, June 3, 2022 from 4 to 7 PM at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Avenue, Bristol has the honor of serving his family. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, any donations may be made to the Bristol Midget Football.
