Gloria Sandstrom Mazzorana

Gloria Sandstrom Mazzorana, 80, devoted mother of Michael & Robert Mazzorana, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, January 5, 2018. Born and raised in Bristol, she graduated Bristol High School in 1955. Following high school, she was recruited by Southern New England Telephone (SNET) into their management program where she served as a Quality Manager and with her natural beauty, was also asked to model on some of the first company marketing materials and brochures. Upon marriage to Robert Mazzorana in 1965, she left the telephone company to raise her family in Glastonbury where she lived most her life. She re-entered the workforce as a Travel Agent for twenty plus years with most of her career at AAA Travel in Manchester, CT. She retired in 2006 and for several years was a Board Member of her Condo Association.

She recently moved to Boca Raton, FL in May 2017 to be close to her son Michael and daughter in law, Tina. She leaves behind her two sons, Robert Mazzorana of Santa Monica, California and Michael Mazzorana, his wife Tina of Boca Raton, Florida, an ex-husband Robert Mazzorana of Boca Raton, Florida, Barbara Ford, of Wethersfield, CT who was her best friend and like a sister to her, her dog, Molly, and all her wonderful friends, co-workers and neighbors who knew Gloria over the years. The family would like to also thank the staff at Boca Raton Regional Hospital and the Lynn Cancer Institute in Boca Raton, FL for their support and compassion.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 12 with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at St. Stanislaus Church, 510 West St, Bristol and a burial at St. Joseph’s Cemetery at 522 Terryville, Bristol. Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol, CT 06010 is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Boca Raton Regional Hospital Foundation.
