Gerard Collin, 94, of Plainville, widower of Aurore (Rossignol) Collin, died on Sunday (September 23, 2018) at Southington Care Center. Gerard was born on July 19, 1924 in St. Agatha, ME and was one of 13 children of the late Levite and Josephine (Marquis) Collin.
He came to New Britain from Maine before settling in Plainville in 1966. He retired from Spring Brook Ice & Fuel, after 42 years of service. After retiring, he worked part time for Arrow Drug in New Britain.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus where he achieved the 4th Degree.
Gerard is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law: Gloria and Robert Sirois of Bristol, Karen Maier & Cliff Johnson of Proctorsville, VT, and Pearl and David Brown of Fuquay Varina, NC; two sisters: Alberta Sullivan of Florida and Constance Giroux of Pennsylvania; six grandchildren: Lori (Pat) Minard; Sandra (Greg) Godin; Kari (John) Drost; Amy (Joseph) Daniele; Melissa (Ryan) Michaud; David (Veronica) Brown and 11 great-grandchildren; Austin & Jenna Minard, Joshua & Dylan Drost, Lauren & Nathan Godin, Brianna & Avery Michaud, Jacob Brown, Jordan & Taylor Daniele and many nieces and nephews.
He is also predeceased by 8 sisters, 2 brothers and son-in-law, John Maier.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Gerard will be celebrated on Tuesday (September 25, 2018) at 11 AM at St. Ann Church, 250 West St., Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Plainville. Relatives and friends may call at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol on Tuesday between 9:30 AM and 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Southington Care Center 45 Meriden Ave., Southington CT 06489, the American Heart Association or a charity of your choice.
