George E. “Butchie” Benoit, 68, of Bristol, beloved husband of Patricia (Masotti) Benoit, died on Sunday (January 3, 2021) at St. Francis Hospital, Hartford, due to complications of Covid-19.
Butchie was born on April 2, 1952 in Bristol and was son of the late Alice (Jacob) Benoit. He formerly lived in Pequabuck graduating from Terryville High School before moving to Bristol. He worked for Red’s Auto Glass and Upholstery for 35 years until his departure when he would continue with his own upholstery business. An avid NASCAR fan, he enjoyed restoring old cars and was known for his train collection.
In addition to his wife of 39 years, Butchie is survived by his beloved daughter: Kristina Benoit-Peters and husband, Adam Peters of Burlington and his adored grandson, Milo George Peters; siblings: Sandra Majesky and husband, Joe of Newington, John Benoit and wife, Letty, of Southington, and Carol McLellan and husband, Nathan of Terryville; his mother-in-law: Elizabeth Masotti of Bristol; several nieces, nephews, and Masotti relatives. He was predeceased by siblings: Charlie Benoit and Judy Jalbert and his father-in-law: Vito Masotti.
A walk-through visitation will be held at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol, on Friday between 5 and 8 PM. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 825 Brook St, I-91 Tech Center, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
