Elie T. Godbout, Sr., 91, of Bristol passed away at Saint Francis hospital on August 18, 2021. He was born to the late Thomas Joseph and Elizebeth (Vallancourt) Godbout on July 31, 1930 and was raised in Fort Fairfield Maine. His early life consisted of farming, socializing, and reading. At the age of 18, he graduated from high school with a diploma in farming. Helping to run the Family farm with his Mom and Dad.

Elie was inducted into the Army on December 9, 1953 served several years, Received an honorable discharge on August 20, 1959. He decided to leave Maine, come to Connecticut where he met and married Jacqueline Lavoie. Elie enjoyed barbecuing with his family at home, watching television and gardening. Furthermore, he liked vacationing at Lake Compounce, Catskill Game Farm, Maine and Canada. He worked hard to provide a good family life in which he started a business, Elie's Plumbing and Heating with the help of his wife Jacqueline. Elie's business flourished for years and he retired from plumbing at the age of 60. During his life Elie enjoyed all kinds of activities, hunting, and fishing, snow plowing and dancing at the French Club. His most favorite activity of all was riding his motorcycle and flying which in his early years, brought him to Florida, Maine, Alaska, Canada and Vermont. Later in his life he rode his motorcycle with his friends on a daily basis to Mrs. Murphy's in Southwich, MA. Elie was longtime member of Saint Ann's church in Bristol.

Elie is survived by his three children, Debra Levy, Linda Kuharski and Elie T. Godbout Jr.; grandchildren David Kuharski, Jillian Kuharski, and Crystal Fitzgerald; great grandchildren Preston, Hailey, James and Nathan. He is also survived by two sisters Patrica Novinski and Lillian Ouellette and the love of his life of 34 years, Mary Hazel. In addition to his parents he is predeceased by his daughter Lisa Harkin, brother Lawrence Godbout.
