Edna Mae Bruneau

Edna Mae Bruneau, 77, of Wolcott, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2023 at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford surrounded by family. She was the widow of Ronald H. Bruneau, her husband of 37 years. Edna was born on May 7, 1946 in Waterbury, CT a daughter of the late John and Louise (Marano) Scarpa and lived in Wolcott for over 50 years. She attended Notre Dame Academy and Catholic High School in Waterbury. Edna proudly served her community as a 40+-year member and past President of the Wolcott Junior Women’s Club and the American Business Women’s Association, Nutmeg Chapter. Prior to her retirement Edna was employed at Easter Seals for many years and loved to travel. She found her greatest joy spending time with her beloved family especially her grandchildren. Edna is survived by her son Ronald E. Bruneau and his wife Laurie of Fullerton, CA; her daughter Kristen A. Bruneau-De La Cruz and her husband Thomas of Orlando, FL; sister Judi Ouellette and her husband Ernie of Wolcott; sister-in-law Doris Thomas of Palm Coast, FL; two grandchildren Eleanor Bruneau and Thomas De La Cruz II and many cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Edna was predeceased by her sister Louise Russo. 

The visiting hours will be Tuesday, September 12, 2023 from 4 to 7 PM at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Avenue, Bristol who has the honor of serving Edna’s family. Family and friends are invited to go directly to St. Pius X Church, 525 Woodtick Rd., Wolcott on Wednesday morning, September 13, 2023 at 11 AM to attend a Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be private.
