Denise (O’Brien) Redman, 82, beloved wife of the late George “Yosh” Redman for 52 years died on Tuesday March 16, 2021. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Madelyn (Henebry) O’Brien. Denise was born in Providence, Rhode Island. Shortly after, the family returned to reside in Bristol. She graduated from Bristol High School and later Bay Path College. Denise retired from the Bristol Board of Education after many years. Her love and devotion for her family is her greatest legacy. She loved to travel with her husband as he coached football, baseball and wrestling at CCSU. Denise was a huge supporter of her children and grandchildren. She was their biggest fan at countless swim meets and games. She looked forward to her trips to the casino with her daughters playing the slot machines. Denise loved vacationing with her children and grandchildren in Westbrook, CT, Venice, FL and Ogunquit, ME making memories that will carry on through the generations. She is survived by her five daughters Susan Holden of Bristol, Karen and David Schur of Burlington, Patti and David Anderson of Bristol, Dana and Brian Cutler of Avon, Maureen and Tommy McCarthy of Berlin; grandchildren Stefanie (Josh), Brett (Jessica) Mandi (Anthony), Lindsay, Jacob, Ali, Michael, McKenna, Bryce and great grandchildren Adella, Henry, Dash, Nathan, baby George who is due in July. She is also survived by her sister Peggy (Gene) Sullivan plus several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Denise was also pre-deceased by her son-in-law Craig Holden, brother Joey O’Brien and sister Betty Chapin. Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol is honored to serve the family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday (March 19, 2021) at 10 AM at St. Gregory the Great Church, 235 Maltby St, Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol.
