Charles E. Rivard, 81, passed away on Friday (April 9, 2021) at John Dempsey Hospital,
Farmington.  He was the beloved husband of Marie (Raucci) Rivard for 58 years.  Charlie was born on February 22, 1940 in Bristol and was the youngest son of the late Albani and Yvonne (Dumaine) Rivard.  He was a lifelong Bristol resident, attended Bristol High School and was employed at The Bristol Press until he retired and then worked part-time at Armoloy of CT.
As a young boy, he joined the Bristol Boy Club to meet friends, as the years passed, he became a swimming instructor and more.  Recently, he became a 50-year lifetime member of the Older Members Association of the Bristol Boys’ and Girls’ Club.  He viewed his decision to join the OMs as ‘one of the best things that he had ever done in his life’.  He believed strongly in giving back to his community through volunteer work, helping friends and neighbors and supporting the local business owners.
Charlie loved being outside tending to his vegetable and flower gardens.  He enjoyed learning about wine and sharing it.  He and Marie always looked forward to weekend getaways and special gatherings with their friends.  As Grandpa, he enjoyed every moment with his granddaughters, whether talking to them about school or having relay races in the pool.
Charlie deeply loved his wife, Marie and was always trying to make her laugh.  He was very close to his daughters and he will be extremely missed.  He is survived by two daughters:  Janet Gaudiana and husband John; Jacqueline Perzan and husband Robert, and three beautiful, bright granddaughters Emily and Sarah Gaudiana and Jordan Perzan, all of Burlington, CT;  nieces, nephews with whom he shared endless laughter and his brother Father Robert Rivard of Norfolk, MA.  He was predeceased by four siblings:  George Rivard, Sr., Fernand “Ray” Rivard, Normand Rivard, and Dolores Charpentier.
The family would like to thank the Bristol Hospital Cancer Care Center, Fresenius Kidney Care DS in Forestville and all the wonderful care providers who listened, helped and hugged him over the past few years.
