Celine T. Roy

Celine T. Roy, 52, of Canton, formerly of Bristol, died on Friday (September 1, 2017) at Charlotte-Hungerford Hospital in Torrington. Celine was born on May 7, 1965 in Bristol and was the daughter of Joseph A. Roy, Jr. formerly of Bristol, and the late Doreen (Fournier) Roy.  Raised in Bristol, she attended St. Ann Grammar School and graduated from Bristol Central High School in 1983.  She then went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in the Arts at Southern Connecticut State University.  A resident of Canton for the past 6 years, she worked as a hairdresser in Bristol salons for more than 25 years.  Celine also carried on her family’s artistic abilities, established by her father; she was a talented illustrator and potter, and she was the trailblazer for continuing her family’s nostalgic acknowledgement of pennies. She went to be with her only child, Marcus James Kosak, who died on August 29th.  Celine is survived by her father, Joe; three brothers: Joel Roy and wife, Kathy, of Morris, Glendon C. Roy and partner, Patrick Gearlan, of San Francisco, CA, and Gregory Roy and wife, Jill, of Gorham, ME; two sisters: Marie Roy of Rocky Hill, and Paula Goodman and husband, Tommy, of Corpus Christi, TX; eight nieces and nephews, and her loving companion, Kurt Dineberg of Canton.   A memorial service will be held on Friday (September 8, 2017) at 2 PM at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol.  The family will visit with friends and relatives on Friday between 11 AM and 2 PM.  Burial will be at the convenience of the family.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL, 33607.
