Bertha A. Hanscom

Bertha A. (Fitzgerald) Hanscom, 80, of Bristol, wife of David Hanscom, passed away on January 10, 2023 at home surrounded by her family. Bertha was born in Gardner, MA on July 28, 1942 and was a daughter of the late Delvina (L’Heurux) Fitzgerald. After moving to Connecticut she went to work for the State as a Forms Clerk where she retired from after fifteen years of service. She loved the ocean and to spend time in Myrtle Beach with her husband Dave. She loved her blended family, especially her grandchildren. In addition to her husband Dave she is survived by her son: Albert Sonier of Bristol; her two daughters: Lisa Reek of Wolcott and Lori Blais of Thomaston; two step-sons: Daniel Hanscom, Sr. of Florida and Shawn Hanscom of Bristol; nine grandchildren: Daniel Hanscom, Jr., James Reek, Cameron (Emma) Blais, Connor (Jordan) Sandino, Jacob (Antonia) Hanscom, Courtney, Bethany and David Reek, Calli Hanscom; four great grandchildren: Connor, Wyatt, Christian and Emily; two brothers-in-law: James Hanscom of Wisconsin and Douglas Hanscom of Maryland; three sisters-in-law: Sandra (Sam) Salmoiraghi of FL, Ella Mae Klinkewicz of Bristol and Vicki Lynn Brinley of Norwich, CT; and many nieces and nephews. Bertha was predeceased by her step-daughter Pearl Hanscom; five brothers and two sisters. 

The visiting hours will be on Monday, January 16, 2023 from 4 to 8 PM at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Avenue, Bristol which has the honor of serving Bertha’s family.
