Allen J. “Jack” Segal, 89, beloved husband of Susan (Carucci-Pierce) Segal, passed away at home on Friday (June 14, 2019) after a long illness, he was surrounded by his loving family. Born in Waterbury on November 3, 1929 to Herman and Rebecca (Berger) Segal, he had attended New Britain Public Schools before continuing his education at New York University and UCONN Law School. Allen and Susan enjoyed a 42 year marriage that was filled with many happy memories.
Allen practiced law for over 50 years in Plainville, CT and was associated with the law firm of Koskoff and McMahon, He was also a partner in the law firm of Segal and Laska. He had served as Acting Town Attorney for the town of Plainville for several years. He both served as president and sat on the Board of Directors of the Visiting Nurses of Central CT and the Beth Israel Synagogue of Bristol for many years. Allen was an active member of the Hartford Bridge Club, and was a Silver Life Master. In addition to his many accomplishments, he was a member of the Frederick-Franklin Lodge #14 AF & AM in Plainville. He was an avid stamp and coin collector and an artist.
In addition to his wife, Allen is survived by a son: Chad Segal of Newington; two daughters: Melissa Begin and her husband Steve of Bristol, and Sheryl Berkowitz and her husband Leonard of Easton, MA; one brother: Joseph Segal of Plainville; seven grandchildren: Brandon Begin of Los Angeles, CA, Ethan Begin, Nathan Begin, Alexandria Segal and Racheal Segal all of Bristol, Jenna Berkowitz and Kyle Berkowitz of Easton, MA; several nieces and a nephew and a much loved friend Carol Avellino of Canton, CT.
A service will take place on Monday (June 17, 2019) at 11:00AM at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Avenue, Bristol, with burial following in Beth Israel Cemetery, LAke Ave., Bristol.. No Shiva will be observed. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bristol Hospital Home Care Agency, 222 Main Street, Bristol, CT 06010.
