Alfred K. “Perk” Talmadge, Jr., 88, of Bristol, husband of Carole (Brandt) Talmadge, died Monday July 23, 2018 at the Bristol Hospital. Perk was born September 11, 1929 in Bristol and was a son of the late Alfred K. Talmadge, Sr. and Edith (Gutska) Talmadge. He was a Bristol resident all his life and retired from New Departure-Hyatt Division of General Motors. He was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church, Bristol. Gifted with a beautiful voice, Perk sang in many Bristol Boys and Girls Club O.M. Shows, as soloist at his church, and at numerous other events. Perk always spoke fondly of his involvement with the Bristol Boys and Girls Clubs and loved Camp Wangum, participating in its construction and serving as a camp counselor. He enjoyed going to the casino, crossword puzzles, fishing, hiking and he loved to exercise by walking around town and at West Farms Mall. In addition to his wife of 56 years, Perk is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Todd M. and Marina Talmadge of Hendersonville, TN, Timothy B. Talmadge of Cambodia, and Peter W. and Monyneth Talmadge of Bristol; a daughter, Holly Susan Talmadge of Newington; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Perk was predeceased by a brother, Charles Talmadge and a sister, Joan Chapman. Funeral services will be on Saturday July 28, 2018, 10:30 a.m. at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, Bristol, followed by interment at West Cemetery, Bristol. Relatives and friends may call at the Funk Funeral Home 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol, on Friday from 4 to 6 P.M.
