Stanley A. Erkson, 89, passed away on January 14, 2022. He was born in Burlington, CT to Earl C. Erkson and Sarah Okenquist Erkson. Stanley is predeceased by his first wife Lois Ludwig Erkson, both parents, brother Robert, sister Betty J. Calabrese and son Carl Erkson.
Stanley is survived by his wife of 22 years Adeline, sons Brad (Donna), Neal (April), daughter Dawn (John) Zea, stepson Rodney Bidwell, stepdaughter Darlene Manchester, brother Edward (Marsha), grandchildren Teanna (Alex) Wells, Holli, Vanessa, Colin, Nick, Shannon, great-grandsons Sebastian and Tyler, many nieces and nephews.
Stanley attended Farmington High School, UConn studying agriculture, served as a cryptologist in Alaska during the Korean War. He was a partner in the Service Agency (real estate and insurance) in Unionville, CT. At age 44 he moved to upstate New York to dairy farm, for 20 years then started to grow vegetables, primarily garlic, naming his farm Alpha Garlic Farm. Although he loved all his "careers", he was the happiest digging in God's earth. Stanley spent 17 years wintering in Florida and 3 years ago made it his permanent home.
The visiting hour will be this Saturday, May 14, 2022 at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Avenue, Bristol, from 9:30 to 10:30 AM. A service will be conducted in the funeral home at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Farmington with full military honors. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, The Heart Foundation and the Macular Degeneration Association.
