Sharon M. DeFillippi

Sharon M. DeFillippi, 64, of Bristol, passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at UConn John Dempsey Hospital in Farmington. Sharon was born in Southington on March 27, 1958, and was a daughter of the late Joseph P. and Catherine (Duncan) DeFillippi, Sr. Sharon was an honors student, athlete and cheerleader and graduated from Bristol Central High School. She received a Bachelor’s degree in Education from Southern Connecticut State University and went on to receive her Master’s degree in Education from Central Connecticut State University. Sharon absolutely loved being an educator. She taught second grade in the Bristol Public School system for 32 years at South Side Elementary. Former students and fellow teachers still have fond memories of her famous ‘D’s Diner,’ she put on each year. The show was a musical skit she curated to showcase the creativity of her students. Sharon was a light to everyone who knew her, especially her family. She was a dedicated mother and is survived by her son and daughter: Matthew McKenzie and Emily McKenzie; her brother Joseph DeFillippi, Jr. and his wife Judith of Bristol and her sister Joanne Deegan and her husband Gary of Moodus, CT.
